September 23, 2008

Grade 3/4 and grade 4/5 students travelled to the Chatham Kent Children's Water Festival held at the CM Wilson Conservation Area in Chatham.   At the water festival, students demonstrated an understanding of the movement of air and water as sources of energy.  Students also identified wind and moving water as renewable sources of energy and determined the advantages and disadvantages of using them.

October 2, 2008

Grade 2/3 and grade 3/4 students travelled to Harvest Days 2008 held at Ridgetown Agricultural College in Ridgetown.  Students were involved in a fun-filled morning of learning as they circulated stations focused on diary farming, plant growth, soils in the enviornment, and early pioneers.  There was no cost to attend thanks to the support of Lambton-Kent Agriculture in the Classroom.  

October 3, 2008

Grade 7 students travelled to internationally known Uncle Tom's Cabin in Dresden.  This field trip allowed students to take a historical trip back into time.  Students were explained the origins of English Settlement in British North America after the fall of New France, and were described the migration and settlement experiences of the various groups of settlers (slaves).   

October 10, 2008

Grade 6, 7 and 8 students travelled to the Thamesville Corn Maze in Thamesville for their Reward/Consequence Program Field Trip.  The primary goal of the Reward/Consequence program is to maintain and encourage the positive behaviour most students demonstrate most of the time.  Students with an average of two or less infractions per week over the 4 to 6 week period qualify for the group-oriented reward.  

October 22, 2008

JK and Grade 1 students travelled to the Chatham Cultural Centre for the production of "The Little Mermaid" produced by Take A Bow Productions & Take A Bow KIDS Productions.  With lots of of audience interaction, musical participation, and a very happy ending, this classic children's play swam right into our students' heart! 

November 19,  2008

Grade 1 and 2 classes travelled to the Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area.  Students were taught vital safety lessons taught by professionals from Chatham-Kent Police Services, Chatham-Kent Fire Services and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.  Safety topics included:  Stranger Danger, Emergency 911, Railway Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Vehicle Safety, Match/Lighter Safety, Escape Planning and instruction on creek, river, pond, water and ice safety.
