SNACK PROGRAM Thanks to the Chatham-Kent
Student Nutrition Program, a Snack Program is now available 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR A start-up cheque for $2,500 was presented to the school in November, 2008 by Elaine Lewis, co-ordinator of the Chatham-Kent Student Nutrition Program. Zone school submitted an infrastructure grant request in November to obtain more funding and on December 11, 2008 two more cheques were received from the Ontario Student Nutrition Program. The cheques in the amounts of $7236.00 and $2200.00 were received to assist in purchasing food and equipment for the program. More grant monies in the amount of $390.00 and $260.00 were received in January/2009 and March/2009 from the Ontario Advisory Council of Breakfast For Learning. A special thanks also goes out to the staff of the Bank of Montreal in Bothwell and the Optimist Club of Bothwell District Inc. for their monetary donations toward the snack program. Studies show that good nutrition is a key ingredient for better learning. Bins are packed and delivered to each classroom daily with nutritious snacks for any student who requires them. 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR Zone school submitted a
request for funding from the Ontario Student Nutrition Program again this year
and a cheque was received in September for $5,950.00. This enabled the
"Snack" program to begin running again for the 2009-2010 school year.
Special appreciation also goes to the Bothwell Optimist Club who donated a
cheque for the Snack Program in November for $250.00.
