Zone's Safety Patrollers travelled to St. Paul's Congregational Church in Chatham for the day to participate in a Safety Patrol Camp sponsored by the Chatham Kent Safety patrol Committee. At the camp, patrollers were trained to assist the students to cross streets safely.
Students in Senior Kindergarten and grades 1/2, 2/3, and 3/4 were visited by Elmer the Safety Elephant. Elmer taught the students Elmer's 7 Safety Rules and special Constable Hull swore in Zone's Safety Patrollers for the 2009-20010 school year. Elmer entertained the students with ballet, gymnastics and a magic trick.
On October 8, 2009, Zone's students participated in School Bus Safety Training provided by Badder Buses. All classes watched a video on School Bus Safety and then went outside for safety training on the bus.
